I first encountered Domenico Lepore and the Decalogue methodology more than ten years ago when I was General Counsel for a multinational facing great difficulties. We knew we had to change mentality. As I learned more about this systemic approach, I was happy to see the shift in focus away from cost-cutting and towards thinking about the future and how to grow and improve. That’s exactly what we achieved. One of the first things we did with Domenico was a deep analysis of what was keeping the company stuck and we created a roadmap, or Future Reality Tree, for all the changes we needed to make to achieve the goals we identified. We began to map our system in order to subordinate to the chosen constraint, and as a corporate lawyer, this gave me new insight into my job. I realized how legal competencies are required in so many company processes, not just legal ones.  Everything began to come together in a new and exciting way. Lawyers are often considered as separate or not necessary. Some people think we’re just needed so they can be compliant, or they consult us at the end of a situation to clean up a mess. What I learned is how our legal knowledge can add value across the system.  My experience with the Decalogue approach has shown me how to reach a profound analysis of complex situations quickly and effectively. It enables decision makers to access new insights, to verbalize their goals transparently and accurately, to create a roadmap, and to roll out effective, system-wide solutions in a robust way.

Domenico not only got me to think harder than I have ever done about how to grow my business, he helped me to become a better person in the process. He has a unique ability to enlighten the people around him and, fortunately, I have been one of those. He nourished in me the desire to find out how far my thinking could really go. He provided the right stimulus to help me improve in both my personal and business life. Thanks to his input and encouragement, I have been able to develop my small business into a much more complex organization. By following Domenico’s advice, my business took a real leap in 2004 when I created iRENT, an equipment rental program. Ever since, we have been the number one authorized reseller of Apple products in Italy for the number of rental agreements per year. This has allowed me to create steady growth for my business over the years. Since Domenico left Milan, I miss being able to meet with my mentor face to face – fortunately we can use Face Time! I always felt good after speaking to him. No matter my concern or worry, talking to him has always helped me think and understand better. In fact, I am currently developing the most ambitious project of my life (watch out!). It’s a venture where my business sense and who I am as a person are becoming one, and Domenico’s constant input is yet again invaluable.

Intelligent Management, which employs the Decalogue methodology, provides the means to wrestle with complex problems, addressing the sorts of tangles of issues and points of view inherent when working with groups of people. The approach has been of critical importance to the successful birth of the Comstock Foundation for History and Culture. Conflicting agendas, vaguely understood concerns, and ill-defined goals were all brought into sharp focus – together with the path to reconcile differences – thanks to this approach.

Working with Intelligent Management has been transformative for Sierra Nevada Journeys.  The Decalogue process gave us a model to glean tremendous insight into our markets’ needs as well as a clear, collaborative method to plan how to meet the market need.  As a fast-growing non-profit, our leadership team benefited a great deal from working with the Intelligent Management team, providing a powerful set of tools and training for us to use across a wide range of issues planning.  Intelligent Management gave our team the confidence and guidance to make the community impact we have been dreaming of.

– Eaton Dunkelberger, MBA. CEO Sierra Nevada Journeys, an outdoor science education non-profit delivering high-impact critical thinking development programs to over 10,000 students in California and Nevada annually.

As our community continues to grow, incorporating new ideas and concepts with a respect for the established “we always done it this way” resistance to change creates a significantly more complex approach to understanding the real potential of an organization. The Decalogue process allows for all these unique and varied inputs and brings clarity to these complex interactions.
I greatly appreciated the Intelligent Management team’s ability to coach and mentor. They understood when to educate, when to let our team assimilate the information and when a strong “nudge” to get action was needed. With this process, we now have a clear path we can execute with confidence.

– Bob Maccario, MBA. Virginia Range Wildlife Protection Association

As a non-profit organization we are extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with Intelligent Management to use the thinking process tools, and be guided by Domenico and Angela with their wealth of experience and knowledge.  It  was one of the most eye-opening and productive experiences we have ever encountered as an organization. In a short amount of time, we were able to fully understand our current circumstances and how we arrived at that  point, determine how we would like to grow, and identify and break down the steps required to ensure that we are able to operate efficiently, sustainably, deliver our authentic message  and stay true to our core goals. We highly recommend Intelligent Management to any business or organization wanting to achieve optimum levels of success and accomplishment.

Working with Dr. Lepore, Dr. Montgomery and the Decalogue method gave us the courage and the knowledge we needed to expand our facilities and more than double our students. We truly appreciate everything you have done for and we see G-d’s blessings every day on the smiles of our children. With blessings for success,

My first exposure to Domenico and the Decalogue was over a decade ago.  I had just left a well regarded public accounting firm to join a financially distressed public company that desperately needed resources and would reward them with increased responsibility and opportunity.  I made the decision to leave in an effort to broaden my knowledge and gain exposure to areas of an organization beyond accounting.  What I lacked at the time was a clear sense of (a) how organizations need to behave in order to achieve their goal (b) how to truly measure the progress towards that goal, and most importantly (c) how to properly define the goal and the path to its achievement.  The application of logical, critical thinking allows me to look beyond paradigms in order to effectively resolve conflicts and thus provide a path to achieving a common goal.  Identifying a common goal is only the start, achieving and sustaining it requires thorough planning and a systemic approach to organizational behavior that was foreign to me until my exposure to the Decalogue. I learned that a purely functional approach to management with individual goals will only serve to undermine the organization’s goal.  Through my application of the methodology I delivered results and, therefore, was awarded roles and responsibilities beyond my expectations.  I cannot convey in one paragraph the impact of the methodology on my life, both professionally and personally.  However, I can say that the impact has been immeasurable.

– Jim Guddy, Vice President, Private Equity Sector
